What's been your worst experience at a restaurant?
Well since I love bad service on the grounds that it means I don't have to tip, I mostly should go with bad food here. The worst of three:
1. The place in Cornwall that served Big Boy and I the same dish, except that his had all the sauce and mine was practically bare. I sent it back and then put up with it when it came back unchanged. Rubbish.
2. The Ethiopian restaurant in Kings Cross that just didn't do it for me. Yuck.
3. Our once favourite restaurant on the occasion that they charged £15 for a plate of spaghetti that had hardly any sauce or anything going for it. We haven't gone back since.
Although actually, the worst was a time of bad, bad service:
The Curry Mile, or Rusholme, in Manchester always gave profoundly bad service to the mostly student (and drunk) population who went there. Some of the restaurants nevertheless sold good food and so when Big Boy's aunt once wanted to eat curry with us we took her to Rusholme. I can't remember much about the meal itself - I'd say it was average - but the one thing that really stuck out was when our waiter took it upon himself to bring our coffees... and place them on a nearby empty table to clear our larger one for the next customers who arrived. We had not taken long with our meal and there were no allocated slots. We actually had to move tables, with absolutely no fanfare or apology of this absolutely absurd order that came from our waiter. "Your coffees are over there.. (points)". We were so incredibly embarrassed in front of his aunt. And were speechless. For a change, so was she.
