Pedicure

Do you mean that she had plastic toenails? Euwwww.
I don't know really how to tell. I'm not even enough of a girl for that!
Me neither. Drop a lit match somewhere near - apparently they melt.
I have ventured into coloured nails, but I'm not sure about a French pedicure. I thought that when the white bits showed that meant your toenails needed cutting?!

Too long toenails play havoc with socks.

I painted my toenails 'Lotus Rouge' from Chanel on Monday - I feel quite tarty.

No it's when you paint the white bits a shade of white/cream and the pink section of the nail a shade of pink, then gloss over the top.
Yeah, I'll bet she has to spend loads on socks ! ;) I'd like to wear coloured polish like you, but I'm afraid that I'm just not good enough at applying it.
Ah why did I do personalised replies rather than one big chunk? Talking about dropping lit matches on the train to make her nails melt, I'll bet I'd end up melting when I ended up in Guantanamo Bay, etc. Oof. Maybe I should have stood on her toes and seen if I could knock one off ;)
I know what it is - I meant that when the white bits show on my nails, that's when I chop them off as it usually means they'll tear holes in my socks!

That's good thinking. Proper thinking, rather than put-the-rest-of-us-to-shame-on-the-train thinking ;). As I said to Jando, I reckon she must get through tons of socks.

I think on a French pedicure the white bits which are painted on, aren't necessarily where the nails are growing off the end of your toes - they're just pretend white bits. Having said that, I have seen some people with long toenails knocking around, which makes me gag (although my own grow down, like claws)
By the way - you don't have to be good at applying polish to your toes - even if you go over the edges, it'll have worn off by the following day, just leaving polish on the nails.
I'm not particularly great myself, but my top tip is that once you've painted your nails, just use a cotton wool bud dipped in nail varnish remover to remove the spots that have got on your toes. Works for me.
That's true - I've noticed that my toenails always look much better than my regular nails because they tidy themselves up after a day!
Why not have a colouring competition amongst all the small children you know. The one that keeps inside the lines the best wins the honour of painting your toe nails.
